What Kind of Grilling can I do on a Kamado Grill?

Bake - Roast - Sear - Smoke - Grill

BAKE AND ROAST: More than a grill, a Kamado Joe charcoal grill and smoker can become a charcoal-fired oven with just a simple configuration for both baking and roasting. Anything you’d cook in an indoor oven, from wood-fired pizzas to juicy pork tenderloin, can be replicated on a Kamado Joe by harnessing the power of your charcoal-powered grill.

GRILLING AND SEARING: You can do many different cooking methods on your kamado grill, including indirect, smoking, roasting, direct cooking, two-zone cooking.

What is the difference between the Classic I, II, and III?

Classic I: The original model. Features a standard heavy felt gasket, standard hinge (heavy to lift), and the basic 2-tier Divide & Conquer system.

Classic II: The most popular "sweet spot." Upgrades include the Air Lift Hinge (reduces dome weight by 96%), a wire mesh fiberglass gasket (lasts longer), and a locking top vent cap that won't slide when you open the lid.

Classic III: The premium model. Adds the SloRoller hyperbolic smoke chamber (for superior smoking), a taller 3-tier Divide & Conquer system, and a heavy-duty galvanized steel cart with a storage shelf.

Which size should I buy: Classic Joe or Big Joe?

  • Classic Joe (18"): Ideal for the average family of 3–4 people. You can fit two pork butts, a large brisket, or about 9–10 burgers.

  • Big Joe (24"): Best for large families or entertainers. It offers significantly more cooking surface (perfect for full packer briskets or multiple racks of ribs lying flat) but requires more charcoal and takes slightly longer to heat up.
