The Ooni Cast Iron Sizzler Pan (SKU: UU-P08C00) is a cast iron cooking pan designed for use inside Ooni pizza ovens as well as on conventional hobs and in domestic ovens. The pan itself measures 247 x 143 x 26 mm internally (9.7 x 5.6 x 1.0 inches) and 310 x 159 x 30 mm externally (12.2 x 6.3 x 1.2 inches), and weighs 2.6 kg (5.7 lbs). It is made from cast iron with an FSC-certified wooden serving base, and comes with a removable cast iron handle that attaches to the pan for transferring it from the oven to the table. The pan is compatible with electric, gas, and induction hobs, conventional ovens, open flame, and barbecue grills, in addition to all Ooni pizza ovens. Boxed dimensions are 32.5 x 17.5 x 6 cm.

Do I need to season the pan before using it for the first time?

Yes. The Ooni Cast Iron Sizzler Pan requires seasoning with oil before first use. Apply a thin layer of a high-smoke-point oil to all surfaces of the pan and handle, then heat the pan to allow the oil to polymerise and form a protective layer. The included care instructions provide specific guidance, and the pan will need re-seasoning periodically throughout its lifetime.

How does the Sizzler Pan compare to the Ooni Cast Iron Grizzler Pan?

Both the Sizzler and the Grizzler are cast iron pans with removable handles designed for use in Ooni ovens and on conventional hobs. The Sizzler has a flat cooking surface, suited to cooking meat, seafood, and vegetables where you want a sear without grill marks. The Grizzler features a ridged griddle surface that produces grill marks on food, which some cooks prefer for presentation and texture on steaks, chicken, and vegetables. Both pans offer similar heat retention and multi-source compatibility; the choice comes down to whether a flat or ridged cooking surface is preferred.

Can the Sizzler Pan be used inside the Ooni oven with the handle attached?

Ooni recommends placing the pan inside the oven without the handle attached, as the removable handle design is specifically intended to allow the pan to fit within the oven chamber. Once the food is cooked, the handle is reattached outside the oven to carry the pan safely to the table on its wooden serving base. The wooden base should never be placed inside the oven.
