The Gas Burner for Ooni Karu 2 Pro is the official Ooni propane attachment that converts the Karu 2 Pro from solid fuel to gas cooking. It slides into the rear port of the oven and is secured with two 10mm screws using the included Allen key — the full installation takes under a minute. Once fitted, the oven operates on propane gas, delivering 7.3 kWh (25,000 BTU) of output with a heat control dial for precise temperature management from low and slow cooking right up to the 500°C maximum. The EU variant (UU-P2E800) includes a 37 mbar regulator and hose, compatible with standard propane canisters available across Portugal and Europe. This burner must always be used with the oven chimney attached and is designed for outdoor use only. It is compatible exclusively with the Ooni Karu 2 Pro and is not suitable for any other Ooni oven model.

The gas burner is the natural complement to the Karu 2 Pro for cooks who want the option to switch between wood-fired and gas cooking depending on the occasion. Wood and charcoal deliver authentic flavour and the high-heat rolling flame; gas provides consistent, controllable heat with no fire management, minimal clean-up, and faster recovery between cooks — particularly useful when cooking for larger groups or in situations where managing solid fuel is impractical. Switching between fuel types on the Karu 2 Pro takes less than a minute in either direction.

Is this gas burner compatible with my Ooni oven?

This gas burner is compatible exclusively with the Ooni Karu 2 Pro. It is not compatible with any other Ooni oven, including the Karu 2 (formerly Karu 12G), the Karu 16, the Koda range, the Fyra 12, or the Volt 2. If you own a Karu 2 or Karu 12G, you need the Gas Burner for Ooni Karu 12 instead. If you own a Karu 16, you need the Gas Burner for Ooni Karu 16. Fitting the wrong burner to an oven is not covered under the Ooni warranty, so it is important to confirm your oven model before purchasing.

Does this burner work with butane or natural gas?

No — this burner is designed for propane gas only and is not compatible with butane or natural gas. The EU variant (UU-P2E800) includes a 37 mbar propane regulator and hose. Propane canisters are widely available in Portugal and across Europe at hardware stores, petrol stations, and supermarkets. If you currently use butane with another appliance, you will need a separate propane canister for use with this burner — the two gases are not interchangeable with this regulator.

Do I need to remove the door when using the gas burner?

No — one of the key advantages of the Karu 2 Pro over earlier Karu models is that the glass door can remain closed when cooking with the gas burner. The chimney must always be attached when the gas burner is in use. Cooking with the door closed improves heat retention, reduces the time between successive pizzas, and makes temperature management more consistent. This is a specific improvement over the original Karu 12 (not the 12G), which required the door to be removed entirely during gas cooking.

Does buying the gas burner from Importeco include any warranty?

Yes — Importeco is an authorised Ooni dealer, so all accessories purchased through us carry the standard Ooni manufacturer warranty.
