Why does the HORL® 3 Pro cost more than the standard HORL 3 models?
The HORL® 3 Pro is a highly advanced piece of machinery. It incorporates a complex internal watch-style planetary gear system that multiplies your rolling speed by three, allowing you to sharpen knives significantly faster. Furthermore, it features an engineered multi-angle support block that offers 6 adjustable grinding angles instead of just 2, and is built from a luxury, anodized dark bronze aluminum rather than wood or recycled plastic.
How do I adjust the angles on the multi-position support block?
The HORL® 3 Pro Magnetic Angle Support is equipped with 3 physically distinct latching positions. By simply pressing on the integrated mechanics of the block, you can easily select and lock in your target angle: choose from 10°, 13°, or 15° on the filigree sharpening side, or 20°, 22°, or 25° on the robust sharpening side.
Can I use older HORL 2 discs on the HORL® 3 Pro?
No, the sharpening discs from the older HORL 2 generation are not compatible with the HORL 3 line. The HORL® 3 Pro utilizes the newly invented HORL® Quick Lock system, a toolless thread design that allows you to swap and upgrade discs instantly with a short twist of your hand.
What knives are the 10° and 13° angles used for?
These extreme, razor-thin angles are designed specifically for collectors and professional chefs who work with exceptional, ultra-hard specialty blades. A 10° or 13° edge provides an astonishingly sharp scalpel-like finish, ideal for precise cutting tasks on delicate proteins using high-Rockwell hardness Japanese blades, carbon steel cutlery, or specialized custom filleting knives.
