Do I ever need to season the enameled interior, and can I use metal utensils?
No, you never need to season it! Our Dutch ovens feature a high-quality, non-porous enamel coating over the recycled cast iron, which protects it from rust and prevents food from sticking right out of the box. To keep that beautiful enameled interior in showroom condition for decades, we highly recommend using wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils. While the enamel is incredibly tough, aggressive scraping with sharp metal utensils can scratch or dull the glossy finish over time.
What is the best way to clean and maintain my Combekk Dutch oven?
Cleaning is beautifully simple thanks to the smooth enamel glaze. Avoid the dishwasher and harsh abrasive scouring pads. Instead, simply let the pot cool completely after cooking, then wash it with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge. For stubborn, baked-on food residues, just fill the pot with warm water and a splash of baking soda, let it soak for 15 minutes, and any residue will wipe away effortlessly with zero friction.
Can I use this Dutch oven on induction hobs, and is the lid knob safe for high-heat baking?
Absolutely. Because of its dense, solid iron core, Combekk is fully optimized for all induction hobs, as well as gas, electric, ceramic cooktops, and open outdoor grills. The entire assembly—including the precision-weighted lid and its solid metal knob—is completely oven-safe up to 260°C (500°F). This makes it perfect for high-heat culinary techniques, especially baking heavy, artisanal sourdough bread boules that require trapped steam.
