What is the difference between the Ooni Skillet Pan and the Ooni Grizzler Plate?
Both are cast iron accessories designed for use inside Ooni pizza ovens, but they serve different cooking purposes. The Skillet Pan (UU-P1AB00) is a deep-sided 9-inch pan suited to cooking dishes with liquid components — sauces, eggs, prawns, and anything that needs to be contained within a vessel. The Dual-Sided Grizzler Plate (UU-P1AC00) is a flat reversible plate with a ribbed grizzler side for searing grill marks and a smooth sizzler side for flat griddle cooking. The skillet is the better choice for pan-based cooking and dishes that require the sides of the pan; the grizzler plate is better for steaks, fish fillets, and anything cooked on a flat or ribbed surface. The skillet is also induction compatible, while the grizzler plate is not.
Can I use this skillet on an induction hob?
Yes — the Ooni Cast Iron Skillet Pan is compatible with induction hobs, as well as gas and electric hobs, conventional ovens, open fires and all Ooni pizza ovens. When using on an induction surface, avoid sliding the pan across the hob as the rough cast iron base may scratch the glass. Lift and place the pan directly onto the induction zone rather than dragging it into position.
Does the skillet need seasoning before first use?
The pan arrives pre-seasoned and is ready to cook from the box without any additional preparation. Cast iron requires specific care to maintain its seasoning and performance over time — hand wash only with warm water and no soap, dry thoroughly after every wash, and never store the pan wet. Re-season periodically by applying a thin layer of cooking oil and heating the pan — the included essentials guide contains full instructions. With correct care, a cast iron pan lasts indefinitely and improves with use as the seasoning builds up over successive cooks.
