Does this cookbook require a specific Ooni oven model?
No. The recipes in Ooni: Cooking with Fire are written for use with any Ooni pizza oven and are not restricted to a specific model. The techniques and recipes apply whether you cook on a gas-powered Koda, a multi-fuel Karu, or any other Ooni oven. The book's opening chapter on The Classics covers the dough and pizza fundamentals that apply across the full Ooni range.
How does this compare to the newer Cooking with Ooni cookbook (UU-P34D00)?
Cooking with Fire (UU-P06200) is the original Ooni cookbook, with 232 pages and photography reflecting the founders' story through Finland, London, and Scotland. Cooking with Ooni (UU-P34D00) is the updated edition, running to 284 pages with entirely new photography and a revised recipe set of 60 recipes, including a notably broader selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Both books follow the same four-location narrative structure and are written by the same authors. If you want the most current content and new photography, the updated edition is the better choice; if you are happy with the original or already own the newer book, Cooking with Fire offers the same four-chapter framework at typically a lower price.
Is this book suitable for complete beginners to pizza making?
Yes. The book opens with The Classics chapter, which covers the foundations of making dough and pizza the Ooni way before moving on to more varied recipes. This structure makes it accessible to those who have never made pizza from scratch, while still providing enough variety in later chapters — fish, meat, vegetables, and breads — to remain useful as experience grows.
